jamie_robertson2
Disappointing... I thought this was the killer update with the new frame rates for video. :-(
ben_goren
Count me disappointed, too. (Not that I shoot video, but still.)

The firmware does two things: it enables use of the new version of the wireless file transmitter, and it fixes a bug where rapid-fire shooting with dark frame noise subtraction enabled might fail to apply the noise subtraction.

Oh, I’ll still be upgrading the firmware. It’s just so much more boooriiiiiing than we had all been looking forward to.

Cheers,

b&

jamie_robertson2
Good point Xavier. I love the auto ISO function but it could be a little bit better. What it really needs is the ability to set upper and lower limits. I would be surprised if this couldn't be applied in a firmware update.
NK Guy
The video update wasn't supposed to be out in December. Canon said "first half of 2010", which is a fairly broad window.
mark_pierlot
This may sound like a stupid question, but does the current firmware update include previous updates, or does one have to download each one separately? The reason I'm asking is that I did download the first update, but not the second, and now the third is available. And of course I'd like to save time by doing one update rather than two.
William Kahn
Mark, the previous updates are included.
ben_goren
Mark,

Unlike most desktop operating system upgrades which only include the differences between the old and new versions, camera firmware upgrades include the entire camera operating system and completely replace the old one.

Cheers,

b&
