chris_jordan3
well, i survived my first outing with the C-1 and 10'-high tripod! loaded the whole shebang (stepladder included) onto a hand truck with bungies and trundled about two miles around seattle a couple of nights ago, exposing six sheets of film (yikes, that's $90...). finally the drizzle got the best of me and i bailed for home. i was quite surprised that everything worked smoothly-- it really is just like a big 4x5, no technical glitches at all, except everything is a little slower and heavier. the Nikkor 450M is an incredibly sharp and beautiful lens-- i'm looking forward to many years of joy working with that puppy. and i must say, that huge apparatus perched ten feet off the ground looks pretty BITCHIN!!! i even got a new "keeper" transparency. YIKES it looks cool on my light table! sending it off for a scan this week. cheers and thanks again to my supportive friends here-- i wouldn't have gotten to this exciting new place without you guys, ~cj (Seattle)
jorge_gasteazoro4
I hope you post the tranny. Pretty cool uh? I knew you would be happy with the Nikon, I love mine too. Glad things worked out fine..:-)
steve_feldman
"BITCHIN" ! ! ! ? ? ? I haven't used that expression since the sixties. (1960's that is). What happend to the yak? Personally, I'd want a large burly line-backer type to keep the looky-loos away from me when I'm on top of a ten foot ladder. Also handy for tossing up the $400 spot meter. Tell me, when looking at a night-time 8x10 image upside down and reversed 10 feet in the air, does this word come to mind - - VERTIGO Hey, catch! matt_clark2
$90 for six sheets? Does that include processing? I've priced 8x10 transparencies at Glazer's and the per sheet cost was less than that. I'm currently shooting B&W in mine and processing at home. I have, however, been thinking of shooting some color when the fall colors start to show. Do you have a lab process your color for you? Who and what is your opinion of their services? Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks and congratulations!
walter_glover
Aaahhh! Chris, Everyday another stride out of the abyss, another step toward the reward. Glad to hear you're as happy with your 8x10 and 450mm as I am with mine. Incidentally, 8x10 EPP is $25.00 Australian per sheet and nearly as much again to process. At present the exchange rate would mean that to expose and process 6 sheets would be about $US150.00 so don't be too harsh on your costs. Cheers, WG
