knut_schwinzer
Hi all, I have a very clean sample of a 1f with the serial number 564201*.

Brian Tompkins states in his "Leica Pocket Book" that Leica changed this model from black to red dial with exactly this number!

So it would be the first 1f red dial ever made...
if there wouldn't be this little star behind the serial number!
I read that the star means that a SN was edited a second time...
Right? Wrong? - Leica mysticism...
Is this something special?
At least it is really exciting!

Any insights on this are highly appreciated!

Best,
Knut
Rob F.
An asterisk (star) after the serial number usually means that the top plate was replaced with a fresh one, engraved with the original serial number. Usually it was done to replace a banged-up top plate.
bennett_callow
Knut,
In addition to the use noted, The astricks (star *) was added to a sn reused (accidentally) in a regular production run. In any case, your If is certainly special!
Aside from that, may I complement you on the many fine images you have posted on this forum. Good stuff!

Gus Lazzari
Too bad you lost it. What happened?

I use my 15mm in low light conditions, hand held and with very satisfying results...
