heathorchard
Hi All,

I recently had a large Photek Umbrella fall and bend a couple of spokes and now, of course, it won't open quite right. Any suggestions on how I might save it or am I just S.O.L.?

Thanks

-Heath
rick_donnelly
If they are just bent, not broken, you might be able to just straighten them out using an appropriate pair of long-nosed pliers, working slowly and carefully.
If a spoke is broken, all is still not lost. I have successfully repaired one using a length of small brass tubing (the kind sold in hobby and modeler's shops), into which I epoxied both ends of the broken spoke, kind of like a splint. Still works great
GerrySiegel
Nothing to lose by gently bending the spokes a bit between wood blocks. Perhaps you can get the fabric off to make the job easier. As long as it will then open to some reasonable degree of circularity, if not perfectl, it will still do the job well enough,- I am thinking. One is never SOL in PN World, Heath. Umbrellas are essentially one of the disposables the way most are made these days, tho.
