Having converted to digital, had forgotten what fine work was possible with the MX and the 50mm. Good show. Mine is a shot of a pink house, red shingles, and the remains of a red creeper on the walls, all in the autumn twilight. K200D 12-24mm Schneider D-Xenon. Cropped heavily.

00V4bp-193337684.thumb.jpg.305fb99c9c9e8e7d5bcff5489c7a1339.jpg

Gorgeous picture George. She should be absolutely chuffed over such an unassuming candid portrait.

I attended a 'Photographers' Night' held by the local photography forum several nights ago, and the local Pentax distributors saw it apt to organise a 'Touch and Feel Pentax K-x' session simultaneously. Very very impressive camera I must say.

Photographer's Night (DA*16-50mm @ f/4.5, 1/20sec, ISO 1600)

All those potential buying decisions led me to revisit some old pics, especially when I first got my K100D Super. Here's a modest attempt at "street photography" ... taken during a winter's night at Darling Harbour, Sydney 2007.

Not Of Javier's Ilk :] (Kit lens Version I @ f/3.5, 1/4sec, ISO 800)

Happy weekend, all.

In keeping with the portraits here, both candid and posed, I'll post a few from a walk in a traditional market that I did yesterday with a fellow Pentaxian. First two shot with a Pentax K20D and a loaned Pentax SMC Manual 50mm f1.7, second two with my FA 28mm f2.8:

Like the portrait work that's getting a good run. My models usually aren't so obliging - given they are 6 and under. Grabbed an opportunity to take a few shoots at a local beach during the week. While the rest of the country sweltered in 35 + (celius) degree heat, the south west coast had a spell of winter weather. Cooler temps and eventually some bright blue days made it good for the water.

00V4gc-193395584.jpg.698f852c2c50191c10a0c5dc89288234.jpg

I've spent some time working with long FLs this week but I'll save that for a thread of its own. Here's one in keeping with the portrait theme that's developed. I was killing time at a Starbucks while Clara was at a school social function and figured it would be a good opportunity for some low-light practice. Most of the shots were throw-aways but I like the tone of this one and I love to capture children while they're trying to understand something.

George: A great start.
Ben: Could only be OZ!
Doug & Garry: Your stunning work with the A-50 and FA-28 gives me hope for mine.
Dave: A beautiful study of study, but how do you hold that 105 so steady?:)
My regurgitation of the past continues. This time 1978 Stockholm on Fuji. The negs needed a great deal of cleaning up but I managed to recover 7 keepers. All taken in Gamla Stan, the original Old City of Stockholm. The PS framework is visulization for my extended photo hobby of archival matting & framing stuff I like. Please excuse the effrontery of posting four, I couldn't make up my mind.

00V4m0-193447584.jpg.f6e4f6313eba5089d1a32ca569ab1f70.jpg

Oops, sorry to interpose Tony! Here's one that I flared intentionally. I like it more than the straight shots, partly because my daughter was making such goofy faces, but also because the effect was what I wanted.

George, what a great shot to get us going. A lovely girl, candid yet flattering expression, great tone throughout - bravo!

00V4mK-193449684.thumb.jpg.f99fda71d4b2b73d9527f2dd63834c1e.jpg

Many nice shots here, as always. My favorites are Garry's B&W's, Dave's young woman in Starbucks, Nick's daughter, (why are you holding back on the kid shots, Nick, they are wonderful!) and Tony's first.
This morning was the Philadelphia marathon and my son ran in it. It was his first marathon and he completed it in under 4 hours. He is a happy, although exhausted person right now. The first is his "portrait" only a few hundred yards from the finish line.

00V4qZ-193489684.jpg.c7a89e79e1cc80448b0fbc1ef2a4e878.jpg

I got have a little fun with my camera yesterday; enjoying the art, design and engineering of classic autos at the Leake Classic Car Auction at Dallas' Market Hall. I took a K20d, DA35mm limited, FA77mm limited, DA10-17 fisheye, and AF540 on a stand, manual mode with my cheap Chinese triggers. About 80% of the shots were with the DA35mm limited, the more I use that lens the more I like it.

The big haired Texas woman with her itty-bitty big haired dog were out side and too much of a portrait opportunity to pass by.

If you're interested there are about 230 images from the auction; mostly the jewelry and tid-bits of the cars here: http://rogerrobbins.com/photos/leake2009
