dan_raley
I am having problems figuring out how to view the photos I edit in Photoshop Elements. It seems like once I edit them and save them I can not find them in anything but PSE. I want to be able to view them in my iPhoto library so I can view them full screen instead of in the little box in PSE. I have tried importing them into iPhoto, but it says they already exist even if I rename them. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dan
peterbcarter
You first and biggest problem is that you are trying to take pictures from an "open box" program (PSE) and go into a "closed box" program like iPhoto.

iPhoto needs to have complete control of your image, by design. You import it, with in it's internal "cloud" and have to forget that it exists - as a file. PSE doesn't care where you file is, but it has to be a file. There is your conflict.

If all you want is to display the image, use the default viewer in OSX and continue working in PSE or do *all* your processing in iPhoto. Find a place to park and stay there.

I use Photoshop 8 and can import them back into iPhoto with no problems as long as I rename them. In what format are you saving them in PSE?
dan_raley
I have tried to save them as PSD, JPEG and TIFF. I get the same error message with all of them when I go into iPhoto and try and import them. Below is a screen capture of the message I receive.

jeannean_.
Dan, I just saved a jpg in the trial version of Elements 8 and it imported into iPhoto like all the others. I'm not sure what the problem is. You might check on the Apple forum. Sounds like your iPhoto is acting up.
Sanford
I save my photos to desktop folders. From there I can right click on a photo and select "open with". Iphoto is listed under "other" on my Imac.

Sanford
Welcome to the world of Mac, where things that used to be so easy and intuitive on a PC now require the infamous Apple "Work Around ". But, "It Just Works".
