pisq
I think it's very hard to say, it's really bold speculation. Each of the manufacturers have their volume targets, and if the make their targets they are, by definition, sustainable.

The avid consumer needs a feel good gadget to get them through the daily grind, and a decent hobby instead of an expensive vacation. that could just as well be reality, as any other speculation.
george_shihanian
Those 2009 predictions aren't worth the paper they're not even written on. I can recall a few years ago before Olympus introduced their DSLR, the E-1, that every year someone or another that had their own blog would predict Olympus' demise. Olympus has proven that they don't need to even be in the top 5 of digital camera sales to turn a profit. They will survive with or without a DSLR line, and I don't see them dropping out of the DSLR market any time soon. It should already be obvious that the camera with the highest megapixel count isn't always the best. Olympus' image processor and feature set are top notch.
vivek iyer
I like "Rockwell" better.

1. Perhaps makes more money.
2. Not a soothsayer.
3. Not a fanboy/follower of one brand.
4. Funny with little substance.
5. Can not possibly have any insider information from any brand. ;-)
