steve_taylor8
I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on metal prints. I was talking to another photograper and he had heard they look great. Just wondering if anyone has seen one.
katherinemichael
Are you referring to prints done on metallic paper? If so, yes I have had prints made on it and it looks awesome with the right photo. Both color and B&W look good. Photos with vibrant color and/or good contrast do well. Try to pick something with a wide tonal range.
dave_redmann
Why don't you try a few? Mpix offers 8x10's on Kodak metallic paper for IIRC $3 each.

To me, for some subjects they look great and for others they look odd. Specialty papers like the Kodak and Fuji metallic papers, Fuji Supergloss, Cibachrome (Ilfochrome) (a whole different process), etc. can look great, but it depends on a lot of factors, and what you are trying to achieve.
steve_taylor8
Thanks for the response. I have been using metallic paper for about 4 yrs now and love it. I didn't put the site because I didn't want people to think this was spam. I came across this site from an ad in Outdoor Photographer last month. bayphoto.com. They print right on aluminum and make some awesome claims. I think it must be fairly new.
katherinemichael
Oh, alright. It's kind of like the old tin types in a way, although this is obviously a different, modern process. I would be interested to see one. It seems expensive though.
steve_taylor8
It is a little pricey but you get half off your first order. I do shows so it would also be nice to have something I don't have to worry about. Waterproof etc.
