paddy_macmahon1
... an SMC Pentax A* 200mm f4 Macro. Was keeping an eye on this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290351591180&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

thinking it might fetch somewhere in the region of £800. Even when the pound was worth something 2800 euros would have been way out of reach.

joseph_wisniewski
Yike. That's more than a Zeiss. That would get you a Nikon 200mm f4 macro, a nice D300 body to use it with, and about 500 Euros change...

andrewg_ny
Maybe pricing is different but @B&H Micro-Nikkor 200/4 $1629 + Nikon D300S $1800 = $3429. A used D200 might work though for that deal. Zeiss doesn't make a lens like this, though actually the reason the Pentax costs so much is that they haven't made a lens like this for years either.
orly_andico
2800 EUR = 4090 USD!!

You could get a Micro-Nikkor 200/4 and a D700 for that price! and have change left over..

I think people who buy these lenses (another similar one: The A* 85/1.4) buy them for a collection, and not to use.

I use my A* 85/1.4 almost as much as my standard lens. Though I didn't spend anything like as much as 2800 euros on it.
