peter_popp1
Hi all. I'm purchasing a 645, and I've decided on a Pentax 645nII. Now the question is where. Seems like my options are a USA-warranteed product from Adorama, for $1699, or a gray-market camera from Delta International for $1500. I believe Delta offers their own warranty on gray-market products. Has anyone ever tried to use this warranty at Delta, or otherwise have information about their warranty, good or bad. I'm trying to decide if saving $200 by buying gray-market is worth the risk, if there is any risk at all. That $200 could be used for an extra film holder and a nice filter. Thanks. kcolby
Hi Peter! I purchased my gray market Pentax 645 NII, the backs, 45-85 soom, and 75 mm lens from Delta last February. The lenses and camera body came with a three-year Mack warranty for free! Mack Camera and Video Service is in New Jersey. "See mackcam.com" for warranty information: That's what my invoices say. I saved hundreds over B&H's prices. I did get my flash and battery pack from B&H, though. You'll love the 645NII!!! A Lot!! Good luck!
phil doherty
I purchased a grey market Contax from Delta and it also came with a 3 year Mack Warranty. I have no idea easy Mack is to deal with, but I bet you'll find some info on this site if you do a search on this site.
andrei_kvasyuk
I purchased all my new Canon's equipment from Delta: D30, Lenses and so on. They are very good, responsive people.
benny_spinoza
I purchased a Hasselblad from Delta, and saved a substantial amount of money. I highly recommend them. I have the MACK warranty, and during a phone call, they claimed that it would be sent to Hasselblad USA for repair. I'm not sure how accurate this statement is, and I hope it never needs repair. Give them a phone call, and ask them for more details. But in your case, if there is only a $200 difference, why not go with USA warranty for peace of mind? andrew_schank
If you check in the Neighbor to Neighbor guide on Photo.net, Mack does not have the greatest reputation (based on a relatively small sample of posters, so take it with a grain of salt) Still, it isn't encouraging. http://www.photo.net/neighbor/one-subcategory?id=1 Scroll down to "Mack Camera & Video Repair

patricks
Peter, I'm thinking about that camera myself. I was quoted ~ $1,800 from an auth. dealer in HK that I've been buying Leica from. That includes a back and the 75mm lens. Shoot me an email offline.
jeff_drew4
Remember what a warranty is and remember it's only as strong as the company offering it.
pete_gregar1
I sent a maxxum 7 in for repair. The PC socket fell out, and some screws were loose. 10 days later Mack had the camera back in my hands good as new.
bob_chong
Rather than banty about which warranty is better, I'd like to hear from anyone who has needed a P645 (any version) repaired within the first 365 days of ownership and why.
