Importing images with overlapping file names

<p >If you have several cards from the same shoot and for an example they all came from the same camera and the number sequence are all the same. What is the best way to batch renumber these so when you import into LR2 they will have different file names.</p>

<p>Create a new directory (with a unique name) for each batch of images and copy the images to that directory. Then IMPORT to Lightroom with the option "keep files in same directory". You can then rename the files using Lightroom or some other program. If Lightroom objects, select the option to re-import the files. The path name which includes the directory and file name constitutes a unique identifier for database and Windows purposes.</p>

<p>You could also rename the image files directly on the CF card, manually or with a third-party program (e.g., CKRENAME).</p>

<p>Most DSLRs have an option to continue the file numbers from one batch to the next. You may need to reformat the card in the camera to take advantage of this option.</p>
