JDMvW Posted August 20, 2009 Share Posted August 20, 2009 <p>It's sort of your choice. If you are buying it just for use on the Canon, then it's simpler to just get the mount to start with. If you do want to use it on M42 bodies or other bodies that will take M42 lenses one way or another, then the second option makes sense, I suppose.</p> <p>When I got the 5D, I did miss the wider end beyond 24mm, so I got a Spiratone 18mm lens (definitely made by Sigma who sold the same lens under their own brand), and an adapter. Aside from a tendency to flare --something that is not uncommon with wide lenses-- this works fine as a stopdown manual lens. This was my interim solution until I can amass the loot for getting a TS-E 17mm some day (post-graduate, my daughter, that is).</p><div></div> Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
