marcel_perez_calisto
Ok, I have to begin by apologizing: since I am no expert some of the information on previous posts regarding this subject just flew over my head like an F16 (not the F stop!!:) So here it goes...at the risk of re-asking a question alredy posted: I need a short focal macro lens in the 80mm range to do 2:1 to 4:1 magnifications. So the question is will the 80mm macro Digitar cover 4x5 at this ratios? Any experiences with the non digital 80mm from Schneider? and finally, any alternative suggestions? As always, thanks in advance for the valuable feedback.
dan_fromm1
Tominon 75/4.5. Covers 4x5 @ 2:1 - 4:1. Lens is in barrel, screws into a #1 shutter. Also available in, I think, Copal 0. Much less expensive than anything new from Schneider, and fairly easily found used. @ 4:1 requires ~ 375 mm extension. The Digitar needs ~ 400 mm extension to go to 4:1. Does your camera have that much? Alternatively, the Tominon 50/4.5. Covers 4x5 @ 2:1 - 9:1. 250 mm extension @ 4:1. Go to Willem-Jan Markerink's site and read his microlens page for more information. Do a search on Markerink to find the site. Cheers, Dan
jim_bancroft2
Hi Marcel- Take a look at : http://www.schneideroptics.com/photography/digital_photography/ for the specs on the Digtar 80 macro. The short answer is that it won't quite cover at 1:1 but will at higher magnification ratios. jim
