Hello everyone! This is my first time posting. I just discovered this forum a few days ago. This shot is from a few weeks ago of my Cairn terrier, Henry, basking in the sun at my daughter's house. We were just sitting around talking when I noticed him and ran to get my camera. I tried to leave a bit of pattern showing in the cot, the rug, and Henry's coat and still get the stark contrast that I wanted. I would love to experiment more in this spot, but my daughter is remodeling and that in an interior wall now!

00U0bk-157103584.jpg.d9610068fc800fdc8ed582f20392bdbc.jpg

Wow, the photos just get better. Richard, I will have to agree with you. I have gone around to some old churches and cathedrals but Old St. Patricks was definitely the darkest. I didn't take my tripod as I would be traveling through mid-town Manhattan during the day. I even asked the maintainence guy if he could turn the lights on but he just smiled and kept working.

Another great Wednesday thread! My comments will have to wait until I am done with the day's work:( In the meanwhile, here is my contribution; I tried to capture the fog rolling into the Palo Colorado Canyon, Big Sur, CA, at sunset. It hasn't come out too well, I am afraid, but I really want to learn how to photograph fog, we have quite a lot of it here on California's Central Coast...

00U0cE-157107584.jpg.d1ada0a9c7801de6ab3b4fc5060312d7.jpg

hey, happy wednesday, nikon fans!
this pic was taken a while back
i dont do a lot of landscapes, but every now and then i like to grab the tripod and the ultrawide and find something picturesque...helps my overall sense of composition, which sometimes can be forgotten when you are shooting action
this one's from lake merritt in oakland...

00U0d4-157111684.jpg.31cb6b9495a922d7332e1738e13b67ec.jpg

Christopher, your photo does indeed look too flat. While I'm using Firefox I'm fairly sure that it's not the browser but an overall lack of contrast. Having said that color management can indeed be somewhat challenging. If you need some help just drop me a e-mail.

This is from Lark in the Morning Music Celebration, a yearly week long get together for trad musicians. Shown is a photo taken about 3:30 in the morning whilst playing at a marathon session for hours. Inspired by the close-ups shown here, I thought it demonstrates amazing qualities of the 70-200 on a D200 down to the pores:)

Another excellent week I'd say. I so love the diversity of this thread. It's so inspiring. :-)
I want to humbly thank;
Monika, Waldemar, Ray Gosalia (yes the rain added a lot), Aaron (yes I agree, the effect of the rain in the shots sure did add), Benjamin (I'd prefer temps around 80 something & yes at 14 lbs for the Sigmonster alone - it is a large & heavy lens), Keerthi s r (If they do, then I'm very happy because how could I possibly ask for more), Kris Bochenek & John
Now as to my shot reactions/comments which started in my initial post - the continuing....
Trevor - nice night shot
Bogdan Nicolescu - love the colors & use of space
Pedro Cardoso - love use of the angle & colors
Alejandro - love the use of space
Joseph - feel better fast - nice landscape
Monika - love the use of dof
Lex - love the portrait of your mother
Ton - another fabulous B&W portrait
Ertugrul - love the seascape with the boat being the center of attention
Oscar - love your IR shot. So tell me more about this.... You used a CPL on an IR converted D70 camera body - which filter conversion do you have - - super neat result.
Miles - boy that's a lot of cyclists - your shot really conveys how tight space is for them.
Waldemar - beautiful macro. Stunning colors. Which do you prefer - the 70-180 Nikkor or the Lestar A Dine Kiron 105?
Kent - lovely HDR shot.
Kemal - nice peacock shot, they're hard to photograph due to those tail feathers. Hard to decide how to frame for me.
Justin - beautiful portrait of your little girl. Watch out - she'll grow up far too fast.
Wayne - lovely male cardinal you got there.
Jim - love the happy colors
Ken - love the use of dof
Dan - neat use of space
Nick - lovely land/seascape
Ray - neat sand art - I've got to try to locate one of those competitions one of these days.... Looks so neat.
Matt - that looks like a future ad in a magazine or something - nice
Jonas - lovely shot from Tivoli. Can't remember how long ago it was I was there, but it's been forever.
Aaron - lovely portrait of your father.
Cees Maas - nice landscape of a wheatfield
Benjamin - lovely shot of a female Mallard
Chris Nielsen - lovely landscape
Tony - nice flower
Scott - beautiful historic landscape
Sjoerd - nice portrait
Nina - nice film shot from HK
jf zhang - great Bee-eater action. I so would love to see & photograph one of them....
David - fun shot
Carey - sure give a great feel for a summer day....
Ken - super sweet portrait
Jeff - kind of sad statement of human waste & reluctance to clean up.... But I do love the blue color & pattern
Ray - neat contrast in weather in this beautiful landscape.
Keith - love the pp work on this beautiful portrait
Leo - neat "street shot"
Tom - fun self-portrait
Thangavelu Nachimuthu - beautiful portrait
Keerthi s r - looks really interesting. Where?
Sanford - who knew the 18-200VR could do horse shows. Well done. Nice-looking horse.
Kris - nice street capture
Kevin - beautiful Boxer pup - how old? 8-10 weeks? Nice shot to give your friend.
I am back after missing-in-action for a couple of WedNEsDAys...

Wonderful contributions you all got today, as always. Jose Angel's and James Kazan's are my favorite today.

My contribution today is from last weekend's wedding project. I haven't had a chance to post process them all but here is my favorite one.
