unangelino
I am biased, but I would advise that you check out the Ricoh GRDII. Also, it's always helpful to know what you've tried and how each has failed to measure up. I can pretty much promise that you won't make the rght choice on your first P&S. Enjoy the process.
david_f._stein
Panasonic LZ8, about $100, AA batteries, A S M Program or Ai mode, can adjust NR, 5x zoom starts at 32mm, great value.
jorge
While the LX3 is far from the form factor of most smaller P&S's, I frequently carry it in my jeans or chinos pocket. Not much larger than a pack of cigarrettes which I don't carry anyway. I't will also barely fit in my shirt pocket if I sacrifice carrying my glasses there. Just tried it again while I'm writing this to be sure. No big prob. I'd rather have a slightly bloated pocket than a crippled P&S.

PS, I don't use skin tight pants ever. ;-)
