www.widelec.org - Stolen pictures, Again!

Recommended Posts

This web site seems to take whatever they want from other websites such as this one.
I can't read any of that stuff so I don't really know how to enforce my rights as the photographer, but may be one of you guys with a picture there know the language and can speak for all of us...
The whole series starts here.

Stolen or not, they need to be commended for such a huge collection of photographs of birds. Good place to study "ornitology" or whatever name for this type of science it is.

Go and see some photo collection for "KOBIETY"...

Once you place a photo on public access Internet sites, you are no longer is control of it. What is surprising is that you seem surprised.
If you want to keep your photos for yourself, do not publish them on photo.net. Create a web with controlled acces.

Looking closely, you will find some of pictures where the source of picture on 3rd line from the top, is given by a name or link. They certainly take no credit for those "Stolen" pictures, but miss too many data entries for credits.

Your name and link should have been attached to your photo there and people could possibly purchase pictures from you ? - since seems that they do not sell anything there? - unless I read it wrong.

You can complain to the Europen Union governament in Brussels...

they need to be commended for such a huge collection of photographs of birds

They NEED to commended?

"[N]eed to be commended... ...stolen or not"?

Need? Not only should be commended but "need" to be?

I don't know where the site gets its images but if it gets them in the way that Daniel says his was 'collected', they should face any applicable legal consequences, not commendation. Certainly there is no "need" of praise and support in such a scenerio.

While it may be easy to infringe on other people's property, its extremely disappointing that you would publically say that an entity that knowingly or recklessly uses "stolen" images to make a collection "needs to be commended" for it.

I don't accuse the website in question of anything and I will assume in these comments no misconduct of any kind. I do strongly condemn, however, the assertion that any entity that might happen to use "stolen" imagery to make a grand collection "needs" to be supported or even deserving of praise at all.

Say what? Where do you draw the line, Frank? If I rob a bank, should I be commended for a huge collection of cash?

They are running Google Adsense. You can complain to Google about them running your stolen images on pages on which they are also running the Google ads. Google will pull ads from sites which violate copyrights, but not instantly on a single complaint without evidence. If you can supply evidence the images is being used without authorization, they may act.

You need to look at Google's DMCA page here - http://www.google.com/adsense_dmca.html and follow the instructions.

If they lose their advertising income, they'll pay attention.

Sally: Someone sometime ago complained about these guys and so I check them from time to time.
Bob: Thanks for the tip about Google Adsense. I found a contact email address, and ask that they remove the picture within the next 48 hours. I may use that tip further down the road if they don't oblige.
Frank: Both websites where this picture was posted by me (photo.net and imagepro.photography.com) stipulates my copyright for all of my pictures. They (www.widelec.org) have no business using it without my authorization.
