Increasing skin texture detail in portraits?

<p>How can I achieve the high-contrast (?), highly-textured skin look of this photo? I have a D50 and 50mm/f1.8.<br>

<p>Try some filtration that is the opposite color of the person's skin color; bluish to greenish; glancing light also helps to bring out textures in most anything. </p>

<p>Light coming across any texture, including skin, illustrates the texture by putting the depths of the texture in shadow and the tops of the texture in light.</p>

With film, one would underexpose one stop and increase development time by 25% to achieve that. Fairly routine Zone system work. I wonder if there is any Photoshop/digital equivalent?
