bookbagged
Hi, I didn't see this listed anywhere else, so forgive me if this question has already been answered. I recently upgraded my Nikon D40 with a D5000 (Which I love, by the way) but the battery numbers are slightly different. The D40 uses a EN-EL9 while the D5000 uses a EN-EL9a. And I was wondering, are they interchangeable? I was looking on Ebay for an extra battery and they are selling the EN-EL9 and saying it's for the D5000, D40x, and D40. The D5000 battery says it's 7.2V & 1080mAh & 7.8Wh, while the D40's says it's 7.4V & 1000mAh. Just curious.
Thanks!
ShunCheung
Yes they are interchangable; the new EN-EL9a holds a little more charge similar to the difference between the EN-EL3 and EN-EL3a. But you should upgrade the firmware on the D40/D40x to take full advantage of the new battery: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0904/09041502nikond40d40xfirmware.asp
