Canon name on FT QL pentaprism housing

<p>I bought a Canon FT QL body secondhand and noticed that the Canon name on the front of the pentaprism housing is metallic like the rest of the housing, not black. It's as if the factory forgot to fill in the engraved letters with black paint. There's no sign it was painted and scratched off, and the deep engraving of the letters would probably protect any paint there from wear.<br>

Has anyone else seen this effect with the FT QL body or others of similar construction like the FTb QL, TL QL, TLb, TX?</p>

<p>Oh, yes. I have an FTbn with an "empty" C. Seems like the paint chips free off these under the right conditions. Easily refilled by a good quality magic marker if you layer the coating by dabbing/tapping for about three coats. </p>

<p>I've had isopropyl alcohol soften the lettering paint. Perhaps someone cleaned a bit over zealously?</p>

<p>I wonder if someone brought the camera here from overseas and had to remove the Canon lettering because it didn't come through the official importer.</p>

<p>If this was a common "problem", I imagine we would have seen examples of it on eBay.</p>
