t37traveler
My nephew (a Leica admirer who shoots bw film with an ancient Alpa) emailed me this link today with the subject line "Holy S***" Leica has unveiled its prototype S@ - a medium forrmat camera in a 35mm DSLR body, "aimed at the profe$$sional." Go to the link below to view. The product was just previewed at Photokina. 30x45mm sensor with 35.5 MP. The camera is amazing - simple, streamlined - Nikon, Canon - watch out...
A working prototype is demonstrated.... yeah - holy crap.... the future is here. Of course price is TBD
Enjoy!

starvy
then there is the question of price. nikon and canon, as much as i hate to say it would not have any serious competition from leica in digital terms for a few years to come.

t37traveler
Note that I spelled "professional" with "$$" - for "ss" in my post and added price is TBD.... we all know that "Leica" is a German synonym for "geld" and that "price TBD" translates into German as "fiel zufiel costlich."
dmanthree
Why would someone buy this system when Hasselblad already has a system with a larger sensor in (what might be) a similar price range? I guess I'll wait and see how they price it. And then place a conditional order. The condition? I hit the lottery first.
andrew robertson
It will probably be terrible at high ISO speeds, it will be buggy as hell, it won't have any kind of weather or dust sealing, and repairs will take 3-6 months.

On the plus side the lenses will probably be pretty good!
