tom_barrance
I'm looking for an affordable point and shoot with HD video for children to use in schools. A lot of people use the Flip Mino HD which won't take stills, but I think a still camera with video capability might offer better value (and would certainly have a better lens). By affordable I mean not much more than £200 UKP (that's about 230 euros or 300 US dollars) and preferably less. Easy to use controls are important.
r.t. dowling
How about the Pentax W60? It shoots HD video, it takes excellent still photos, and best of all, it's waterproof! Perfect for kids. :-)

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/566491-REG/Pentax_17231_Optio_W60_Digital_Camera.html

Also worth considering is the Kodak M1093, which probably isn't as durable as the Pentax (and certainly isn't waterproof), but it's easy to use and very affordable:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/573478-REG/Kodak_8229494_EasyShare_M1093_IS_Digital.html
harvey_edelstein1
Wouldn't it be better to get a digital videocam that can take still shots, since all the still cameras are limited in how they do movies. A dedicated videocam is likely to have many useful editing and other features built in.
