How to Defeat Wheel Marks on Prints (Canon 9500)

Recommended Posts

Hi there guys n gals- been having a problem with marks on my prints (see thread here: http://www.photo.net/digital-darkroom-forum/00TDeq )

Did a little research and found that I'm not the only one (see this thread from dpreview's forum: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1003&message=31260152 )

So what's the answer? Anyone figure out how to prevent these little bastard dotted lines?

....I'm starting to get a bit perturbed.

Thanks,
Mike

I can't answer that, but you are definitely not alone. My high quality lab did a print job on their high speed stuff and there were roller marks all the way through it. Worse yet, they didn't catch it. BTW, which printer are you referring to?

With my HP machine I used to get pizza wheel marks; the only remedy that really worked was to remove the wheels completely. (They came off easily, and can just as easily be reinstalled should I want to.) It prints beautifully now. Probably works best if you're not printing borderless, though.

With my Epson 2200 I got wheel marks a few times. However, it seems that if you set the correct paper type(glossy in my case) in the printer dialog box, printing is slowed (pauses between passes)to allow ink to dry before it goes under the wheels.
