Can I use Rodenstock Apo-Ronar 360 mm on a Linhof Technica IV?

This page says the bellows draw will focus a non-telephoto 450 at infinity. So you can focus closer than infinity with a 360mm, but not particularly close.
See Gandy's page here .
(All the result of a Google search for Technika iv bellows draw.)

A rule of thumb for a non-telephoto lens is that you need about 25% more extension than the focal length to focus to reasonably close distances. So a quick check is to measure the bellows extension of your camera.

True telephoto lenses focus with less than normal extension. The term is frequently misused to mean any long focal length lens. The Apo-Ronar is not a telephoto lens.

The 360 Apo Ronar CL had a flange focal length of 339.9mm so since your camera has more bellows extension then that you can easily use the 360 at infinity. Close focusing will not be so great as you will run out of bellows extension. Even with the back pulled out.

Officially, per the 1976 Linhof catalog. The 300mm Apo Ronar fits all 45 cameras, including the Master Technika on a 001128 lens board (lens board no longer available). The 360mm was listed in a Compur 3 electronic shutter and listed as only fitting the Kardan cameras and the Super Technika V 5x7 camera. For the 360mm in Compur or Copal 3 the lens was not recommended for Technika 4x5 cameras in these shutters either.

So if you want to use a 360mm on a 45 Technika the choices are Tele lenses like a Tele Arton or Tele Xenar. If you want to use an Apo Ronar then the longest would be the 300mm.

The Tele lenses have a shorter flange focal length so they will be able to focus over a greater range then a process lens.

Plus an Apo Ronar, or all other process lenses, are corrected for optimal performance at f22 only. The Tele lenses will

perform optimally over a greater range of stops up to f22.
