nang
One of the local camera shops is selling an enlarger with a 6x6 neg carrier and a 75mm lens.. the price they have for it is $75. The enlarger has the words "PROMASTER 66" on the front of it, but I've never heard of this enlarger, and I can't find any information about it on the internet. Does anyone know anything about this enlarger, as far as quality and its limitations go? I want to get into B&W medium format printing but my budget is very limited. Thank you. richard baznik
"ProMaster" is a store brand, essentially a standard line of products made by various manufacturers that are distributed to dealers under that name. I've frequently seen the name on filters, flashes, tripods, and similar gear, but never on an enlarger. I would have modest expectations, but for $75, who's to argue? carl smith
I work at a store where we carry Promaster *sigh*, and I've never heard of this either.
Bill Bowes
Hello everyone. If the enlarger is one of the mass market enlargers with a condensor system, you can not go wrong for $75. After you get the hang of doing MF (oh, say 20 or 30 years!) you can upgrade the lens (say Nikor 100 times), get/make 35mm and Minox negative carriers (for those "other cameras" you need to have), and define your life as complete (do not ask your spouse for that 2nd opion..!). Buy it... if all else fails, you might get $88 on Ebay if the grandkids show no interest in "that nutcase hobby". Enjoy, Bill
