Kent Shafer
I just received an F2 from KEH. They rated it "EX," and it is beautiful. It doesn't seem to have been used much. The mirror lock-up lever is very stiff, however. You have to push the depth-of-field preview button (which is rather stiff itself) in just the right amount while applying more force to the lever than seems right for a precision mechanism.

Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Should I send it back?
dave_brooks1
This is quite common for the F2, nothing to be concerned about so longas everything functions correctly.
Kent Shafer
Thank you Dave. I don't want to send it back - it's far to pretty to let go of.
john_lynch5
It is likely stiff from non-use. I have never used the mirror lock up feature on any of my cameras (Nikon and Olympus). I bought these new in the 70's and 80's. The feature is not one that is used by the majority of photographers. Also, I seldom use the depth of field preview so I imagine mine are "stiff" also. In short, its nothing to worry about.
jeffrey_prokopowicz
My F2's MLU is stiff too, but I never thought it was too stiff, just that it isn't loose and sloppy, and the tolerances are nice and tight. I imagine it would loosen up if you used it a lot.
