jasonsmith
I have two EN-EL3e batteries and am unsure which one is the older of the two. Are there any real Nikon Geeks out there who can tell by the serial number which one was produced first.
5Z01A
5919A
I purchased the batteries between 2005 and 2006.
Since then I am in the habit of labelling my batteries with the purchase date.
frank_skomial
You could have purchased the larger serial number battery earlier. There is no assurance that higher serial number produced battery could be better, as long as they are purchased not too many years apart.
What matters more is how the battery was used or abused.
kevin_cummings
EN-EL3e batteries were designed to keep charge life info and the number of times it has been charged stored in the battery. I don't remember, but this feature may only work with the later cameras (D-200, D-80 and newer).
