step down ring with 80-200?

Has anyone tried using a 60mm-55mm step down ring with an 80-200

vario-elmar? I wanted to put on a close up lens, but I was wondering

about vignetting. I assume I would be ok, as I would be using a

fairly small aperture, and it is a telephoto, but any input would be

appreciated. thanks,

I used 55mm filters all the time with a 60-55 stepdown, including a rather thick polarizer, so I am certain a 55mm closeup lens would not cause any problem. The closeup lens I happened to use with mine however was a Nikon 2-element in 62mm size which I used with a 60-62 step-up. As I recall (don't hold me to this) the hood still slid out over it.
