<p>Now, to continue.... I recommend (if money is not a big issue) the 300mm F/2.8 because it can be hand held as well, it's sharper even than the 400mm F/5.6 and works like a charm with the 2X extenders.<br>

All you need is a monopod, and voila! No need for IS :) The newer 300mm F/2.8 has IS as well, but you can get a much better deal on the ones that do not.</p>
