Though common, their coloring is spectacular. From Wikipedia: The domestic <strong>Crested Duck</strong> is a <a title="Duck" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duck" title="Duck">duck</a> breed descended from the <a title="Mallard" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallard" title="Mallard">Mallard</a> . It has its appearance because it is <a title="Heterozygous" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterozygous" title="Heterozygous" >heterozygous</a> for a genetic <a title="Mutation" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutation" title="Mutation">mutation</a> causing a deformity of the skull.
