ajb2222
I have a promaster 17-50/2.8 lens that came with a hood. For the price I paid ($200) it is a great lens.
The problem is the lens cap that came with it can't even be installed with the hood on. I purchased a promaster center pinch style cap but it doesn't fit correctly because it actualy hits the front element.
I know that Tamron makes an aftermarket lans cap. Is this the same as the one they use on their lenses and that everyone seems to love?
Is there an aftermarket lans cap that you would suggest?
alan_bryant1
I like the Tamron caps so much, I've bought them for several of my Canon lenses. The ones they sell individually are the same ones they use on their lenses. Very nice caps, the center-pinch design is easy to remove and replace with a hood on the lens.
terry_smith2
Dare I say it, but Nikon also has center pinch caps as well as Hama. There are a few older Canon zooms (28-70/3.
5-4.5, 28-80/3.5-5.6, at least the original metal mount version) that really profit from center pinch caps.
m._scott_clay1
I think they all work the same. I just put a UV filter on mine and the Promaster works fine. If you don't want a filter, I think you will be out of luck.

Scott

andre_mcnichols
I got a Nikon cap for my 100-400 (only center pinch 77 mm cap the store had) and it's as good as the tamron ones.
wayne_inouye2
Get the Tamron lens cap. They fit well (and in this case, the Promaster lens is a Tamron lens), they do not fall off easily, they do not hit the front glass, and they can be found at most larger camera stores (including on line).
Wayne

jason_sprenger1
Another vote for the Tamron cap. Center-pinch is nice particularly with deep hoods.
paul_b.1
I vote for Tamron or Nikon center pinch caps, but I also use to mount a filter ring (without glass) , just to get more distance between the front glass ellement of the lens and the cap.
