d_balzac
I found some amazing pages from Japan with some very exotic Nikkor lenses. I did not even know Nikon had fastest production lens ever TV-Nikkor 35 f/0.9 (beats both Canon and Leica) and Some Amazing 85 f1. Check this out. Its such a cool stuff.
http://homepage2.nifty.com/akiyanroom/redbook-e/index.html
Rene11664880918
Well, I think there is so much we don't know about companies like Nikon and Canon. Just a few days ago I was watching a program on N/G and they had this high tech microscopes and I notice the Nikon logo on them.

ellis_vener_photography
I wonder how one of those Macro-Nikkors (as opposed to the much more common Micro-Nikkors) will do as duping lenses for Full frame DSLRs?

d_balzac
I just think how good to have 35mm f0.9 as Normal lens for my D200 :)... Can put to shame D700 low light performance. Oh
oskar_ojala
That page has a pretty good reputation. The lenses are special purpose; they might not be for the F-mount, they might be optimized for monochromatic light, for one magnification ratio etc.
akira
Ellis, for duping, Printing-Nikkor or Repro-Nikkor should serve you better than the Macro-Nikkors because they are designed for the very purpose. A couple of Printing-Nikkors are still in production under "Nikon Rayfact" brand name at Tochigi-Nikon who makes special lenses for industrial use. I suppose the price range of these lenses is similar to that of AF-S super teles!
liljuddakalilknyttphotogra
Hey guys & gals - -
I found a couple of ultra Micros on ebay - - just do a search - - the price tag is rather interesting. :-D
bjørn rørslett
Most Ultra-Micro-Nikkors will not illuminate the entire FX format. The 55/2 is superb on DX, though. In a reversed position, the 28/1.8 can deliver excellent photomacrographic images for an 6x9 camera. I never bothered getting more of the Ultra-Micro-Nikkors than these two (and that at a time when you could get the 55 for 30 $, less for the 28).
edgars_kalnins
I have just looked at some of the super fast ones. it is all very interesting! One thing i wonder - how come they are so lightweight and why cannot thay be adapted for "normal" photography? how would they compare to modern fast lenses? my canon 85/1.2 is almost twice heavier than REPRO Nikkor 85mm F1.0. I am probably missing something very important about these exotic lenses.
stewart_corman
I posted on an old thread and for some reason it didn't show up in the unified
forums listing, although I see it added to the thread and in my profile listing (very odd?):

http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00QCXk

Anyway, been doing some DD on a truly exotic apo industrial copy lens: the
Printing-Nikkor 105mm/f2.8 . This is a good place to organize my thoughts.

came up with the original brochure:
http://savazzi.homeip.net/download/Printing-Nikkor.pdf

as it turns out, Nikon transferred this lens to the Tochigi divison and to the
best of my knowledge it is currently still being manufactured:
http://www.daitron.com/tochigi_nikon/pdf/Rayfact-NX-data.pdf
I have seen an undocumented old list price of $6480 ..if anyone can document this number, I'd be apreciative

in another link:
http://homepage2.nifty.com/akiyanroom/redbook-e/repro/printing105.html
the resolution is specified as:
" Aerical resolving power 240 lines/mm (center, 1/1X)
Aerical resolving power 180 lines/mm (60mm circle, 1/1X)"

If I convert the 180l/mm number to digital format for a full frame 35mm (24mm
high), I get 4320LW/PH .... please correct me if my calcs are wrong

this is outstanding performance, since the test results on the
Nikon D3x/24.5MP camera with prime lens was only 2700LW/PH at best setting (dpreview)
