naturetrek
That picture was taken with a Canon G10. For DSLRs, there's this
sarah_fox
I'm counting a white:black lens ratio somewhere between 2:1 and 3:1, at least in the press areas. You can almost read "Canon" and "Nikon" on the camera bodies! Wow!
erik_p1
Yeah picture is cool. Amazing how few floating heads and other anomalies there are.
hawkman
Sarah, I think you need to look more carefully I see more Nikon lenses than Canon in this particular shot, the three lenses in the lower center are all Nikon as are two other on the left clearly attached to a D3 body. That said not much can be concluded from one shot at one particular event.
mbkissel
Arash, zoom across to the press gallery on the other side, and then to the center stand on the right. Sarah's estimate may even be low.

The stitching is pretty good. I found a few "floating heads" and body doubles.
hawkman
Haha, you are right I missed that, detail is really impressive you can even identify individual faces. There is one dude that has no less than three canon and three Nikon bodies!

clgriffin
Did anyone else notice the guy who was shooting with a 4X5 field camera. He's on that far side, on the right near the edge and acouple of rows down from top. I wonder if he had a digital back?

stwrtertbsratbs5
This simply refects Nikon's past delay in coming out with an FX camera. What's more interesting is what's happening in the market now.

We all benefit from competition. I shoot Nikon, but I want a healthy Canon to keep Nikon pushing forward.
sarah_fox
Agreed, Robert! As a Canon shooter, I like to see some high end Nikon glass out there.

The blue and yellow parka field camera person... He/she has some sort of mount that is clamped to the railing. Same mount for the Nikon(?) beside it. Pretty cool. Who makes those?
stwrtertbsratbs5
I'm 99% certain that the large format guys are using film because scanning backs wouldn't work for this type of shoot.
