peter_k4
...or as on the 75-150 f3.5 it should be called lens slide instead of just creep. slowly shaking the camera back and forth will make the lens completely zoom in and out.

what have you guys used to damp it down? elastics? tape? tape sounds good but I worry it might go all the way under and then peel up and get stuck on the underside of the zoom sheath or something.

thoughts?
bob_sunley
Self adhesive black felt or velvet is the most recommended fix. Google ought to find you a million or so hits on Nikon Zoom creeep. Opps, only 5,440.
JDMvW
We used to have one of these (a lens creep) in our local photoclub, but he stopped coming.

A nice thick rubber band sometimes works, depending on the lens.
john_cox7
Richard Liu (copyright 2006) wrote a very comprehensive report on the repair of the Nikon Series E 75-150mm Zoom Creep. The article is copyright for individual use only. Use it at your own risk. If you ruin your lens, it's your responsibility. carl_becker2
I have placed a small piece of black electrical tape on the bottom of the barrell both forward and aft of the push pull. This gave a great friction to the push pull. I have a 75-150 with a little looseness and put a smaller piece of tape on the barrel.
Peter_in_PA
I've tried all the solutions, and none of them leave the lens (18-200, the king of all lens creeps) working well for me. If I need to shoot "down" at something, and it's a serious photo, I use my 55mm micro.

I just deal with it.
