CS3 layer mask question/how to...

<p>I am trying to change the fill on a Curves layer mask from white to black (for dodging/burning on mono images). I cannot figure out how to do this. I've gone to Layer Mask Options (via right click) and changed the color to black but nothing happens to the mask. I must be missing something.<br>

<p>Select the curves layer mask and use the bucket tool to fill the layer with black.<br>

The Mask options is to select the colour of the mask in quick mask mode.</p>

<p>Another technique: Select the mask, Edit->Fill->Black</p>

<p>or simply use CMD + DELETE to apply to the mask the background color, according its black or white..</p>

<p>Press D to get the default color, Press X to switch those color back to front..</p>

<p>or HOLD the alt key when selecting your mask (if you add one manually) to have it automatialy fill with black.</p>

<p>Or just make sure the layer mask is selected and press Ctrl + I to invert the selection. Works with many other mask selections as well, give it a try.</p>
