bernard_verhons
Shutter remains open for several seconds when display panel shows a fraction of a second for shutter speed. As a result films are dramatically overexposed. Looks like metering works fine but information is not transmiited to shutter. Obvious answer is Nikon Service... unless I missed something ? bernard_verhons
I did try switching battery. Looks like shutter speed data computed correctly but not executed by shutter mechanism.
SolaresLarrave
Then, I'm afraid, it's time to send it for repair... Let's see if someone has something else to recommend, but I'd send it to Nikon. Good luck!
ShunCheung
Set the exposure mode to M, manual. Set the shutter speed manually to different lengths and see whether the shutter is working properly.
bernard_verhons
Very interesting input: shutter works properly in M, manual mode, but not in A, S and P mode. Is this enough to establish the beginning of a diagnosis ?
ShunCheung
Ok, it looks like your F5 is malfunctioning.
You can send it to Nikon for a repair estimate. Given how cheap used F5s are these days, just watch out that repair cost doesn't exceed the value of the camera.
paradoxbox
i dont mean to insult your intelligence but have you made sure that any bracketing modes on the camera are turned off? and that the iso of the film is set correctly?
