ricardojmendez
Hi, I've seen the Sigma 20-40 pop up repeatedly on E-bay, but it isn't listed on Photo.net's ezShop. Anyone has an comment about it? I'm more inclined towards Sigma's fixed focus 20 1.8, but I wanted to know if that zoom was any good. Cheers, Ricardo
josef_kapitan
Hi Ricardo, It is probably too late to answer, but in case you haven't decided yet: I have Sigma 20-40 and I think it has relatively good optical properties: almost no distorsion, low light falloff, but some chromatic aberation at the corners (common problem for wide angle lenses, can be very well corected in image processing software). The lens is also very robust and mechanically well done. I don't have experience with Sigma 20/1.8, but according to several reviews it is inferior. ricardojmendez
Hi Josef, Thanks for the recomendation. I ended up going with a Canon 24mm fixed focal, but I'll keep it in mind. There seems to be a lot of FUD about Sigma on these forums, it's good to have a complementary view of somebody who has used them. Ricardo
