peterbcarter
I use a micro-fiber cloth to gently wipe the neg with a water/alcohol solution from a squirt bottle. As I put the film in the carrier, I dust it with a little bulb/brush. Works for me.
steve_swinehart
Yes - but you have to know how to use it. I find it needs to be turned on for about 5 minutes before you use it as the static charge in the brushes either needs to change polarity or neutralize. Once it is operational, I find it best to pass the film in the scanner film holder through the unit 2-3 times, then blow the film off with canned air. Eliminates about 90% of the dust on the film - there's always a few specs that refuse to come off.
alan_goldhammer
I have gone the low tech Kinetronics route and use the plain anti-static brush (retail price in the US is about $20). I brush each negative or slide before putting into the Nikon Coolscan and have not had any dust problems.
