john_davis24
Hello,
I have recently aquired a D3, and love the 5:4 crop mode. I never got used the super wide aspect ratio of digital, coming from medium and large format film. However, as nice as it is, I still feel distracted by the way the D3 blacks out the sides, and would love a way to completely black out everything but the 5:4 area.

Anyone know of a way to do this? I searched through the forums and learned about Katz-Eye, but it seems they don't make D3 viewfinders yet. And I don't really need a new viewfinder, I just need the sides blacked out. Seems like someone would make a cheap solution

Thanks!
pete_s.
Remove the focusing screen and put black tape on it? A new D3 screen is $30 if you want to switch back or make a mess out of it.
