desienna
hi to all,

i've just been developing a batch of bw films from a trip abroad
and i found on various negs, quiet randomly, a darker 'line' on the upper side (up in the sky),
it appear darker on the negs , therefore is whiter when scanned,
so i've been considering either overdevelopment or overexposure,

re overdevelopment i found it strange because if the film is overexposed
it should be all of it , not just the upper side,
(i'm talking about 1 mm of the actual neg, not much)

it's not big deal because it's barely nothing, but i do want to understand why this is happening,

it shouldn't be fogging or light leaks because it would be the opposite,
(whiter on the neg , darker where scanned),

and i don't think it's something mechanical about the camera (mamiya 7 II),
because i did also a batch of colour slides and they all look fine,

any suggestions and advice is very very welcome,

cheers,

Luca

bill_clark___minnetonka_mi
I sometimes would get this. I figure it was the wine I inadvertently would pour in with the developer.
Seriously, do you think the developing solution had the correct amount to cover the entire height of the film? Even agitation won't cover up for a mistaken amount of developer that should be used to cover the entire negatives.
Just a thought.

ronald_moravec1
Darker on the neg means extra exposure has been made there either in the camera or wound not tightly enough or somewhere.

A clear or less dense area on the negative could mean not enough developer in the tank.
