d_balzac
For outdoor TTL fill flash on bright day, I set D200 at EV EC -1 and SB600 FC EV + 1 (i.e camera underexpose by 1, while flash at 0) and get good results. Questions are:
1. What setting works best for you?
2. Is any way to adjust camera EC EV without affecting flash FC EV?
Thank you for reply
Matt Laur
Is any way to adjust camera EC EV without affecting flash FC EV

Sure, set the exposure and flash power manually. That way you have complete control over how each behaves, and how the ambient and flash-provided light both contribute to the results. Even if you're using the D200 as a CLS commander for the SB-600 off-camera, you can still specifically set the strobe's output power.
d_balzac
Matt. I also can go back to Nikon F and shot all manual, but its NOT what i am looking for. I am not about to give up TTL, unless i have assistant running with flash meter
Matt Laur
Well, if you're using the SB-600 off-camera (say, on a stand or a bracket), you can use the D200's commander mode menu to raise or lower the flash compensation by 3 stops, while still using iTTL's brains on the overall exposure. You can still use the camera's basic EC regardless.

Matt Laur
Yes! As great as iTTL is, with the speedlight sitting on the camera, the off-camera CLS system is where the real fun happens. There is tremendous potential, there, for all sorts of control over how the system does what it does, even as it does most of the heavy lifting. Once you've tried it, it's hard to go back, that's for sure. Have fun!
