cschweda
Just purchased the Tamron 17-50 / 2.8 from Adorama for my Nikon D90. Very nice lens. Couldn't afford the comparable Nikon version, but I'm pleased with the Tamron.
I've also got the 25-75 on order. My experience with the 17-50 is very much what I've read. Slightly soft at 2.8 -- but much sharper at 4.0.
Here's a sample at 17mm at 2.8:

bill_keane2
Welcome to the Tamron 17-50 club. It's a great lens, and, looking at the puppy's eye, it's not at all soft at 2.8...

tim_knight
If you stop it down it takes great landscape shots and interior shots of old churches. Have you also noticed how close you can get to a small subject and it still AF's. It is amazing what kind of pictures you get with something so light. If low light is a problem for your type of photography and you cannot afford the Nikon or Canon glass it is your answer.

martin_aspeli
I presume you meant you're waiting for the 28-75? If so, you'll love that one too. It's a great lens, very practical and great image quality.
