ian_swarbrick
I wish to shoot video and then project it with a video beamer. As the resolution and overall quality of video beamers is still not great, is it worth the extra cost of a 3 chip camcorder over a 1 chip one, or does the lower resolution of the video beamer negate any benefit of a better camcorder? matt_marshall
Personally, I'm rather biased toward the quality of 3-ccd cameras, so whenever someone asks "which is better?" I will always point to the 3-ccd option :) Even on a video projector, the quality results are noticeable, especially if you record your video with adequate lighting. However, a single-ccd camcorder can also produce impressive results so long as you know how to use it efficiently. You did not say what type of projector you would be using, as this is also an important aspect of presentation quality. If possible, try and avoid a LCD projector if you are aiming for a high quality presentation, maybe use a CRT or DLP projector instead.
aaron l
I have both a 1 & 3 chip camera. The 3 chip ALWAYS blows away the 1 chip, hands down. If you want near-broadcast quality, then go for it. If you don't care, don't.
