nikolo5
Good day! This time there is some good experience to share :) Recently I got more than 1100 shots on fully charged battery with my Nikon D300, and what is interesting that few hours camera was working at temperature below 10 C, among them, during one hour about 0 C with snow (see picture). Honestly, it was very nice experience, even though i used internal flash about 10 times only.. Well, just to say... hope somebody can share similar experience... Regards. bruce_margolis
Nick, I love the battery in the D300. For that matter, I loved the same battery in the D80. With both bodies, I have gone an entire weekend of heavy shooting without the need to change a battery. That said, I always carry a spare backup anyway. You never know.......... BTW, nice shot. tibz
I have a D50 I got in the dawn of time and have to charge the battery so infrequently that I lost the charger in between. Now I have 3 batteries, so it gets worse.
gy
1100 shots below 10C ! WoW.. I never get more than 500-600 shots in normal conditions without flash.. It was more or less the same with D80 as well..
leicaglow
Nice shot Nick. I used to do a lot of mountain climbing, but I don't recognize this one without snow on it anyway. Where was this shot taken?
nikolo5
Michael, it was in South Korea... Seoraksan mountains. Brilliant autumn here... NB.
tim_knight
Great picture and nice to know the camera and battery can hold up to that kind of conditions over time and still function. I live in the upper mid west (South Dakota) and have had my D50 out in cold weather but never for more than maybe 30 minutes.
lester_hawksby1
With manual focus, no flash and no LCD image review you can make those batteries last even longer. It's getting ridiculous - I know what Nicholas means about losing the charger between uses! I get up to about 1200 on the D40, despite its smaller battery and obligatory LCD use, maybe 900 including zero-degrees-ish freezing days and big lenses with hungry focus motors. The Fuji S5, effectively a slightly older generation, eats battery much faster. At this rate, by the *next* generation of camera, the battery will probably outlive the photographer!
