rich long
My Coolpix 800 stopped focusing sometime between yesterday and last weekend when I used it last. It still zooms and takes properly exposed photos, but they're out of focus. Has anyone attempted to get one of these (or similar) repaired? Any suggestions? steven_j
I have a CP 990 that was repaired. The focus mechanism failed after 6 months of moderate use. Mine was still covered under warranty. I have had no problems since the repair(over a year ago). Call Nikon and ask how much it would cost. Would it be cheaper to purchase a new camera? rich long
Just in case someone with a similar situation reads this post later, I'll add this: Sent the camera to Nikon. Received yesterday a repair estimate of $183.00 plus tax and shipping. Might as well buy a new camera with similar features for just a little more. Rather disappointing to get only 18 months use out of a camera that cost $500 new. I suppose I'll have them send it back to me so I can tear it apart, learn a little about it, and ensure that it never works again. Damn!!
