daniel_kim7
I read this somewhere on this forum that I could couple 1.4x extender with the 200mm f/2.8 IF, even the 1.4x is used for focal lengths 300mm and longer? Please let me know if this is possible and if the IQ is pleasing enough. Thanks in adavance. Daniel.
egoldste
This works very well... excellent image quality and lens handling.
ben_hutcherson
I used this same combination when President George H.W. Bush visited my school a few weeks ago. The results were quite good, especially considering that I was handholding and fighting a sizeable crowd.<div></div>
don_boyd3
Daniel, as said above, the combination works very well. I got my extender fairly recently so only shot a few pictures and don't have them scanned yet. FWIW here's a slide of the combination mounted on an F-1n http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3279/2935785146_63a71ea4b8_b.jpg Don B in Hampton Roads
timwitt
Daniel, Here is my post from 9-11-08 with an image using this combo. http://www.photo.net/canon-fd-camera-forum/00Qoca
awahlster
WAIT A MINUTE this only works with the Internal focus version of the 200mm f2.8 nFD the older 200mm f2.8 will not have room for the protruding front element. As to image quality it is very acceptable
daniel_kim7
Thank you all for your help! I was also wondering what the largest aperture's going to be? Is it going to be f/4? Please let me know. Thanks!
don_boyd3
That's true. The 1.4 TC costs one stop of light so the max aperture of the combo is f/4.
