fotografz
Recently I purchased a new R6.2 with 21-35. Went to use my SF20 and it won't work in TTL. The camera also won't use TTL with my Metz 54 MZ-3 and 3502 module. I'm a died in the wool M user and only went R to utilize the convience of zooms with Leica optical qualities. I'm stunned that my existing TTL flashes for my Ms won't operate in TTL on this camera. The R6 manual states that a flash with a SCA 351 or 551 adapter is required. Anyone know if a SCA 351 module is available for the 54 MZ-3? If I change the Metz module to SCA 351 or 551, will it then work in TTL on my M6TTLs and M7? andre_bosmans
Marc, Maybe you can look at <<http://www.metz.de/1_metz_2000/index.html>>
bert_keuken
You need an SCA 351 adapter (according to www.metz.de) for the R6.2. For the M6TTL you need an SCA 3502 adapter (also according to www.metz.de). From the FAQ at www.metz.de:What is the difference between the SCA 300 and the SCA 3000 systems? The SCA 300 system processes analogue signals, whereas the SCA 3000 is a digital system. Furthermore, flash special functions are made possible through exchange of additional digital data (unless these functions can be adjusted on the camera itself). The flash units of the SCA 3000 system are backward compatible and can also be equipped with SCA 300 adapters. On the other hand, the SCA 3000 adapters are not suitable for SCA 300 flash units without further modifications. The only possibility to connect a SCA 3000 adapter is to the pole-mounted versions of the flash units of the SCA 300 system with help of the connection cable SCA 3000 C. However in this case it is no longer possible to use all of the functions of the given adapter.
fotografz
Thanks everyone. Looks like I'll have to get another adapter to use the 54 MZ-3 on the R6.2. And use the SF20 set on Auto if I want a smaller fill flash.
john_collier2
Unfortunately you will be only able to use a limited number of functions on the R6.2. For instance, the 351 adapter will not let you use the fill flash function on the flash. You can use the exposure compensation dial on the camera to get the same effect. http://www.metz.de/1_metz_2000/m_pages_english/ 4_mecablitz/m_mb_sca_adaptersuche/m_mb_e_3_7_sca- treffer.php3?k_kamera=80&k_blitz=22&k_hersteller=Leica& submitButtonName=Search+adapter
john_collier2
Unfortunately they clipped the posted url. Go to metz.de and click on "welcome". On the next screen click on "SCA adapter system". Now do a search for the R6.2 and the 54.
Robin Smith
Marc The SF20 works very well on the R6.2 in auto, it is just that not all apertures are useable of course. As to TTL flash in general there is no need to panic as the others tell you. Unfortunately, the SF20 was designed (as was the SCA 3000 system) after the R6 came out. The only thing the SF20 does is to illuminate the flash ready signal in the v/f when it is ready to go. Robin Smith
