bill_morrow1
Just hoping so. The "improved" job in a 400D a friend of mine bought, is less gutsy than one might wish.

nhut-nguyen
Yes, same battery, I'm not sure how many shots the 50D can take with the same battery..but it could be more than the 40D because the 50D uses Digic 4 processor which results in better power comsumption and management. Just my guessing
PuppyDigs
Same battery but the 50D takes about 300 fewer images per charge. I guess the fancy-ass LCD, CPU 'n CMOS draws more current. Should of bumped up da juice on the 511. Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter

alan_myers
It's pretty weird that Canon intro'd a camera with the old battery, then a few weeks later another model with a new battery that's not cross compatible. I hate it when they do things like that, particularly with two models that are likely to be used together, that otherwise compliment each other well. It's sorta like suddenly starting to use SD memory in a model, after a long history of using CF memory your cameras... Oh wait, they did that too. Must be different design teams hired for each camera model.
