thomas_hardy1
Can the hotshoe be used at the same time as the PC output on the Canon 20D? I'm thinking of using the hotshoe for either a flash or pocket wizard and the PC for a second flash. Thanks
jamie_robertson2
I don't know for sure but I would be very surprised if the PC socket was disabled when a flash was in use on the hotshoe.
thomas_hardy1
I think I can cobble something together to test it, but decided to ask here first. Thanks
carnagex_carnagex
You can modify your flash to work, there are aftermarket companies that will do this for you. (one that comes to mind is: Michaelbass Blogspot )
William Michael
> Can the hotshoe be used at the same time as the PC output on the Canon 20D? < Yes. *** And because you have a great name; I love the B&W Estate Home; and you have given points to only ONE photo, will I tell you 2 reasons why . . . 1. Because I have done it. 2. ``A Speedlite attached to the camera`s hotshoe and a flashunit connected to the PC terminal can be used at the same time`` REF: Notes section / p98 EOS 20D Instruction Manual Bloody easier than cobbling things together and trying it . . . :) WW
denny_wells
In case William's answer wasn't enough - I've successfully triggered simultaneous flashes from the PC port and hotshoe on my 20D as well.

thomas_hardy1
I just got one of those super clamp type things in the mail to mount my 430 EX to a light stand and umbrella with radio trigger. It's pretty cool. I may buy a cheap flash to use via the PC connection now that I know the hot shoe and PC can both trigger flashes at the same time. I have monolights but can't get them outdoors easily. I'm going to go on "location" a la strobist and I think this will fit the bill. If I dont get the 2nd flash, I'm only out about $25. Not bad at all. William, I just looked at my workspace and you're right, I only rated one photo in X years! If I knew it was only going to be just one, I would have given it a higher score! Thanks everyone.
