IR filtered sensor?

Recommended Posts

I just purchsed a Panasonic dmc FZ 28. I have been looking at filters and saw the B&H UV/IR filter advertised with

some color examples. This filter would seem to make a difference on blacks and or skin tones. Does anyone know

if this sensor comes with an Infrared coating? Thanks<div>00R3Qs-75653684.thumb.jpg.ddbd7fd6c8fdf49003025ab81adc821e.jpg</div>

This filter apparently blocks some UV and IR. It is advertised as useful for cameras without an IR blocking filter. The far majority of digital cameras have IR blocking filters (also called hot mirror filters), including yours so this filter is as useful as a straight and way less expensive UV filter. If you want to make IR shots you either need to buy an IR screw-on filter like the Hoya R72 or have your camera converted for IR use only.
