Help appreciated- question is- if i shoot exclusively in raw (dng), will having coded lenses fitted with IR filters make any difference to the raw

files i get from the camera?

In a word, yes.

In a few more words: you'll have better edge performance and less vignetting. The IR filter causes colour casts on the periphery that the coding will compensate for. It is mostly only for lenses 35mm or wider.

If you use an IR filter on a lens 35mm or wider, coding is pretty much mandatory. Otherwise you get cyan corners.

 

If you don't use IR filters, the coding is much less important.

Yes. The sensor is excessively sensitive to IR, so your color will not be accurate without filters regardless of whether you shoot RAW or JPEG. Using filters on lenses wider than 50mm will produce cyan corners if your lenses aren't coded. You can either use coded lenses, get the Cornerfix program, or use a red radial gradient layer in Photoshop to correct for this effect. Or you can process to B&W.
